The Fender Rhodes patch on Alex Davis' keyboard gets a workout on Gypsy, the first record from his band Miles to Go. It's a testament to the versatility of the Rhodes that it tempers the band's dramatic alt-pop: Paired with echoed Ebow swells, it's provides post-rock hues; fed choppy chords and skittering drums, it gives a light, funky feel; married with processed vocals and auto-wahed guitar solos, it leads to prog-rock territory. But, at heart, it's dynamic range is a symbol for the band as a pop-rock band with diverse interests. -Pat Wall (Free Times - Columbia, SC) Gypsy, the name we give to wandering nomads from various cultures, defined by the journey they travel. Miles to Go's newest album, Gypsy, will be defined by the journey of this new and upcoming band, responding to the beckoning, nomadic call of their passion. The piano/vocals surrounded by pure rock and roll sound of Miles to Go, will take you on an exciting journey, within yourself, within the joys and pains of relationships and life, and within the heart of the story each song tells. Let Miles to Go become companions on the road you travel. Gypsy: songs for the journey. -Stephen Robinson.back to top
