Belus [180 Gram]

Vinyl: $35.98 Buy

MP3 Album: $11.49 Download

UK double vinyl LP pressing. Highly anticipated 2010 release from the Norwegian Black Metal legends, their first album in 11 years! This long-player is entitled Belus after the name of the ancient European solar deity of light and innocence. The album is not a religious album or an anti-religious album, nor is it a political one, but an attempt to explore the myths about Belus and unveil the oldest roots of our cultural heritage. The album deals with the death of Belus, his somber journey through the realm of death and his magnificent return. In essence the album and the story of Belus is meant to be an entertaining story about something that once upon a time played a major role in the forming and shaping of Europe.

One of the "big four" of Teutonic thrash metal along with Destruction, Sodom and Tankard, Essen's Kreator helped pioneer death metal and black metal as we know it but are best known and beloved for their classic thrash metal style. They were one of the first group's to sign to a major label and have gone on to sell over two million albums to date making them one of the best-selling German thrash metal bands of all time. The 1990 effort came towards the end of the thrash metal explosion of the '80s and retained their classic thrash sound whilst combining more melodic elements of classic metal bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Critically acclaimed by both fans and press, Coma of Souls was a strong, firm step forward for the band and proved they weren't content to sit and wallow in the thrash back waters but were determined to move into a new decade with a bold, thrusting sound.

Baroness's now-classic formative material finally sees a proper reissue with their first two 12-inches compiled as one deluxe LP. A lot dirtier, punker and more metallic than their current rock-infused, catchy weirdness, First & Second is an important document in the lineage of this excellent band, and all 38 minutes of music have been completely remixed and remastered for a much fuller sound than ever before.Housed in a beautiful gatefold jacket with guitarist / vocalist John Dyer Baizley's elaborate and intricate artwork (spread through the exterior, interior and printed dust-sleeve), this foil-stamped beauty comes on complimentary both black and clear colored vinyl.

Sunn O)))

Life Metal [LP]

Vinyl: $29.98 UNAVAILABLE
Double vinyl LP pressing. Life Metal is the eighth studio album by drone metal band Sunn O))). Life Metal was recorded and mixed by Steve Albini (Nirvana, Neurosis, Godspeed You! Black Emperor) entirely using analog tape. The title "life metal" is an inside joke among band members and collaborators that is meant to humorously contrast the genre death metal, and conceptually contrast anything that's "not doom-and-gloom". Sunn O))) chose this as the album's title because of both the music's shift in tone and the mindset of the band members at the time of writing. In addition to Greg Anderson and Stephen O'Malley, the album features collaborators Tos Nieuwenhuizen, Tim Midyett, Hildur Gudnadóttir and Anthony Pateras. Life Metal was written and recorded alongside what has been described as a "sister album" or a "fraternal twin" album titled Pyroclasts that will be released later in 2019.

Limited 180gm audiophile vinyl LP pressing. Obituary's death metal debut album Slowly We Rot was a ground-breaking release at the end of the 1980s. As one of the pioneers of this genre they created a heavy album where everything was monstrous. From their down-tuned guitar riffs, deep growls and moans and distinct tempo changes. The songs are often slowing down to a doomy tempo, a revolutionary thing at the time of release. 'Slowly We Rot' is inspired brilliance, where the meaning of the title is illustrated in the music and lyrics. Overall, you're in for one hell of a package with this album, as this is the true classic from the death metal genre. The Floridian death metal band Obituary is one of the most successful death metal bands of all time. With the exception of their 1997-2003 split, they continue to perform live around the world.

The Infernal Pathway [2LP]

Vinyl: $25.98 UNAVAILABLE

MP3 Album: $9.99 Download

Norwegian black metal titans 1349 have returned with their long awaited seventh full-length: 'The Infernal Pathway'. The album promises a journey through chaos and madness, darkness and peril, terror and annihilation.

1349 is AURAL HELLFIRE. That has been, and continues to be, the primary concept since the band first rose from the ashes of Alvheim in 1997. Conceived around the founding members - vocalist and former drummer Ravn, guitarist Tjalve, and Seidemann on bass - 1349 completed their line-up with the addition of guitarist Archaon in 1999 and SATYRICON drum-legend Frost in 2001.

When their debut 'Liberation' was unleashed in 2003, the Norwegians took the world by storm with their intense blend of old school black metal soundscapes and ultra-fast aggression. Further assaults followed in rapid succession. 'Beyond the Apocalypse' (2004) and 'Hellfire' (2005) cemented the band's reputation as one of the strongest acts in the scene.

Upon the departure of founding member Tjalve, who decided to focus on his band PANTHEON I, 1349 have since continued as a four-piece – occasionally adding guest guitarists. Extensive touring aided the growth of their now massive following when the four piece opened for reunited metal legends CELTIC FROST in North America in 2006.

Impressively demonstrating that holding true to the principles of the genre do not mean nostalgia and stagnation, 1349 widened their sonic palette with 'Revelations of the Black Flame' (2009), which was co-mixed by CELTIC FROST mastermind Tom Gabriel "Warrior" Fischer. This inspired a newfound ambient darkness from the band, which was further explored on 'Demonoir' (2010).

'Massive Cauldron of Chaos' (2013) was the next milestone in the Norwegians merciless advance, scoring excellent reviews and a nomination for a Norwegian Grammy (Spellemannprisen). The release sparked more festival shows as well as extensive touring, bringing 1349 to Australia and New Zealand. In 2018, the Munch Museum and Innovation Norway chose 1349 as one of four bands to create a song based on the paintings of Edvard Munch. As a result, the single 'Dødskamp' was released earlier this year.

After performing a fiery show at Norway’s Inferno festival this year, 1349 started recording in Amper Tone studios and Studio Nyhagen with engineer Jarrett Pritchard. Thus, 'The Infernal Pathway’ was born, a sonic parallel to summoning and unleashing the beast of the abyss in all its fearsome, ferocious and powerful splendor.

Behemoth

I Loved You At Your Darkest

Vinyl: $22.98 UNAVAILABLE
Vinyl LP pressing. "It doesn't get more blasphemous than this." That's Behemoth mastermind Nergal talking about the title of the band's eleventh and latest album, I Loved You At Your Darkest. While it certainly seems an unlikely title for a black metal band - especially one that called their last album The Satanist - it's origin might surprise you even more than the words themselves. "It's a verse from the Bible," Nergal reveals. "It's actually a quote from Jesus Christ himself. For Behemoth to use it as the basis of our record, it's sacrilege to the extreme." A crushing salvo of black metal majesty replete with hellish riffs, thundering drum cannonades and soaring liturgical choirs reminiscent of classic horror cinema, the album is also bejeweled with nimble-fingered rock guitar solos on songs like "God=Dog," "Ecclesia Diabolica Catholica" and "Sabbath Mater."

Cattle Decapitation

Death Atlas [Solarcide LP]

Vinyl: $35.98 UNAVAILABLE

MP3 Album: $9.99 Download

Cattle Decapitation have never shied away from confronting the awfulness wrought upon the natural world by the human race, and Death Atlas is their bleakest offering to date. The cover art says it all, a stooped, skeletal Grim Reaper carrying the burnt-out husk of our planet on his back. "The core concept of this record is humanity's insignificance despite what we've convinced ourselves," explains vocalist Travis Ryan. "That's kind of why this album cover takes place in space, to remind you that 'the universe always finds a way to purge'. In the grand scheme of things, our species is merely a fleeting thought." Backing this up with a ferocious soundtrack, it's one of the most shocking and unflinching records of 2019, demanding an emotional response, and forcing people to think about their own contributions to the devastation of the planet.

Thou

Magus [LP]

Vinyl: $27.98 UNAVAILABLE

Though often lumped in with New Orleans sludge bands like Eyehategod and Crowbar, Thou shares a more spiritual kinship with ’90s proto-grunge bands like Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden (all of whom they’ve covered extensively, both in the studio and onstage). The band’s aesthetic and political impulses reflect the obscure ’90s DIY hardcore punk found on labels like Ebullition, Vermiform, and Crimethinc. From 2004 through 2016, the band has released four full-length albums, six EPs (some bordering on full lengths), two collaboration records with The Body, and enough material spread out over splits to make up another four or five LPs. Sacred Bones Records is proud to present the new album, Magus, Thou’s first full-length since 2014’s Heathen. In the months leading into the new album, Thou will be releasing three drastically different EPs: The House Primordial on Raw Sugar, Inconsolable on Community Records, and Rhea Sylvia on Deathwish, Inc. Each record will focus on a particular sound—noisy drone, quiet acoustic, and melodic grunge—all of which is incorporated into the new LP, subsumed in the band’s more standard doom metal. While sonically, Magus may be a continuation of Heathen, thematically it stands as a stark rebuttal, a journey beyond the principles of pleasure and pain. It is more the culmination of these distinct EPs, which all orbit some internal black hole. FFO alienation, absurdity, boredom, futility, decay, the tyranny of history, the vulgarities of change, awareness as agony, reason as disease.
